I am embarrassed to admit this. But I have literally worn one piece of clothing every single day for THREE WEEKS.

A black J. Crew quilted vest with a gold zipper. I bought it on a whim the night before I left. As I bought it, I thought I’ll probably never wear this and I’m wasting my money. I’m not really a vest girl. Well, throw that idea out the window. I wore this vest every – single – day. Even when I was getting ready for a nice dinner, I put on a thin leather coat and put this vest on over it. Why? Well for a couple of reasons. First – it was between 55-75 degrees depending on what country we were in. And we were doing a heck of a lot of walking. Like three to four hours a day. And so it was the perfect “coat” to transition from doing that kind of walking to inside even when it was 50 degrees. Also and this is a very important point. Security. Yes, this vest had two buttoned pockets. I kept my passports and all my credit cards and money in the pockets. That meant I was safe from the potential of pick-pockets which are prevalent in Europe. Everyone warns you to be careful…and be aware of thieves. I felt like wearing my vest was safer than wearing a purse. Also – with a baby in tow – I had so much OTHER stuff to keep track of. We were in FIVE different train stations and FOUR different airports with four major pieces of luggage and three carry-ons. It was slightly embarrassing and hilarious but I was uber-aware of my surroundings. I always had a hat or a baby toy I needed to do something with and I always had a free vest pocket to stuff it in. I felt like the vest kept THE most important items safe: passports and credit cards. Perfect Fall travel item! You can find a link to it here.Salzburg Austria

  1. When I talk to my cousins, Joanand Jack, from Bensenville they ask me to check on line to find out what you are doing now. They are in their 80s and not on line. I’m a snow bird down in Ft Lauderdale. We miss you on the news and hope you will be on again soon. I will let them know you are enjoying life in the mean time. Karen
