Cubano – Roasted Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Mustard, Pickles on pressed bread

This is an epic sandwich. Epic in the sense that it should rank at the top of so many lists. Definitely one of the best Cuban sandwiches in Chicago. Has to be one of the best cheap eats in the city AND may be the best lunch option if you are attending Lollapalooza and looking to sneak away from the sweaty crowds in line for food. For $5.49, the Cubano at Cafecito is the perfect option to curb your hunger. The Cubano is roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese with pickles and mustard on pressed bread. It’s said that the Cuban sandwich was frequently served in the sugar and cigar factories in Cuba and became a signature dish. Cafecito has a lot of other items on their menu like Ropa Vieja with black beans and plantains, or grilled tilapia with black beans and rice. This modest café on Congress Parkway is just two blocks from South Michigan and walking distance from Millenium park and is the ideal break from the music and madness of Lollapalooza. Now if they only served mojitos!!!   www.cafecitochicago.com
