We are in the middle of my favorite season: FALL! And while I wish these beautiful sunny days with falling leaves would continue forever, I know they won’t. The one thing in life that is inevitable is CHANGE. Yet most of us spend our lives fighting it, being upset about it or avoiding it at all costs. Why? Well, mostly because it hurts. It’s hard. It’s uncomfortable. Comfy worn-in slippers feel better. Even if they are falling apart at the seams! One thing I learned from my recent travels is that I actually like not knowing where I am going. I may be a little odd because of this. I like the idea of getting lost in a new city, (with a map of course) and trying to find my way home. This does not appeal to everyone and I get that. But the way I look at it is that only when you are uncomfortable or “out of your comfort zone” do you learn anything. I’ve been in my comfort zone for many years. And travel reminds me that sometimes it’s really good to shake things up in life. As great as travel is, it’s not always easy. In fact, there were a lot of days on this trip that were really, really hard. 3 large suitcases, two carry-on pieces, a diaper bag, a stroller, Oh yeah and a little man who needed to eat and nap constantly. And we were on-the-move! Sometimes walking four plus hours a day and taking trains, planes and automobiles. It was tiring but exhilarating. Each new country or city brought with it so much to learn and see and do. I personally made many mistakes *which I will get into later! But the important part to remember is that when you travel, You must always keep an open mind. Get comfortable with the discomfort. Some days are going to be better than others. Be grateful for every day. Get ready to learn something new and because of that..perhaps…become someone better… smarter, stronger, happier. Thanks for reading this blog and being a part of this trip and this journey. In the end, the journey is all we have…
